Gay Pride
The biggest Gay Pride festival in the world, per capita!
The Gay Pride festivities in Reykjavík, held in the second weekend of August every year, have been a hugely popular event since it was first held in 1999. Last year, over 100 thousand people (1/3 of the Icelandic nation) flocked to the streets to show solidarity with the gay cause.
Reykjavik's Gay Pride is celebrated with parades which are characterised with noise, colour and pure and simple joy! Shows, festivals, parties, and other entertainment can be enjoyed throughout the city of Reykjavik during the whole weekend, resulting in one-of-a-kind celebrations.
