Iceland Airwaves

The Iceland Airwaves music festival has often been named the “coolest” music festival in the world. In five days in mid October every year, Reykjavík city rocks !

At the Airwaves, all of Iceland’s most prestigious and acclaimed artists and bands perform. International artists also play a big part in creating a music festival where different styles and themes can be enjoyed.

Since the festival was first held in 1999, some of the world’s most exciting artists, including Suede, The Flaming Lips, The Hives and Fatboy Slim shared the stages with Iceland’s finest talents, e.g. Sigur Rós, Gus Gus, Leaves, Steed Lord and many, many more. And when the live bands are finished, top DJs spin across the city until dawn.

But there’s more to Airwaves than music. Reykjavík is possibly the perfect festival city – small enough to be welcoming, sophisticated enough to offer cultural, historical and nightlife diversions to rival cities ten times its size. And don´t forget the natural wonders that are available within an hour drive from the city; perfect as a daytime activity for festival guests.
