Sólfar

Reykjavík’s most photographed, visited and beautiful art piece is without a doubt Sólfarið, or Sun Voyager as it is called in english.

The Sun Voyager is a striking sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, it’s a massive steel creation and is made to resemble a Viking ship.

The S. Voyager points towards the sun setting in the north and the connection between the name and the position becomes obvious during the bright nights of summer. Some say it is an unforgettable moment.
