Iceland Travel wins Seatrade awards
Iceland Travel's creative marketing efforts were formally recognised and honoured by a delighted global Cruise Industry during last week’s Seatrade Med held in Cannes, South of France.
“The Marketing Initiative Category had the largest number of entries and as such, competition was undeniably fierce” said Tony Heuer, President of Fidelio Cruises.
The video was appealing in its simplicity – cute, amateurish and amusing. It was catchy and fun with heaps of “Christmas Feel Good” about it. The language used was cruise speak and the songs’ original “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” text was expertly re-written to appeal to those in the shore excursion sector of the cruise industry. It hit the business target and Iceland Travel achieved an 80% success rate in their shore excursion proposals for the summer 2010 season.
Runners up in the Marketing Initiative of the Year category were Norwegian Cruise Line's 2010 magnificent new build, the Norwegian Epic and Malta's sister island, Gozo. The award was accepted on behalf of Iceland Travel by Liz Gammon (pictured), Manager of Shore Excursions and Cruise services.
Following the awards presentation, the 600 specially invited delegates, speakers and exhibitors at Seatrade Med were treated to an evening of music hosted by the city of Nice at the historic Opéra de Nice.
