According to a new poll, conducted by Market and Media Research for the Iceland Tourist Board, nature is always the number one attraction for tourists coming to Iceland, RÚV reports.

When asked about what was their most memorable experience, 31% said it was the nature. The Blue Lagoon came in second at 20%, and people and hospitality third at 13.5%. The city of Reykjavik was also a popular attraction at 12.6%, and whale watching finished at about 11%.

Also each tourist spends about ISK 184,000 (approx. EUR 1.140 / USD 1.480 / GBP 950)* during their holiday in Iceland, excluding the money spent on the airline ticket.

Divided by nationality, Germans spend the most per person (approx. ISK 244,000 which means ca. EUR 1.520 / USD 1.970 / GBP 1.260)* followed by Spaniards (222,000 ISK or approx. EUR 1.380 / USD 1.790 / GBP 1.150)* and Italians (217,000 or approx. EUR 1.350 / USD 1.750 / GBP 1.120)*. By contrast, Swedes spend the least per visit, at about 107,000 ISK each (approx. EUR 665 / USD 865 / GBP 555)*.
