The Kulusuk area is a nature lover's paradise. The island is situated east of the entrance to the spectacular ice filled Ammassalik fjord, where the main settlement of the primitive Ammassalik Inuits was discovered in 1884.

With a population of less then 300 inhabitants, the village still buzzes with life due to being a hub for the international airport, serving other parts of Greenland.

Although Kulusuk is visited by several thousand tourists every year, the village is still remarkably untouched by foreign influence.  As in the other villages in the district, this is where one comes closest to the original Greenland culture.

Fishing and service trades are gaining ground but catching seal, whale and polar bear remains an important source of income for the vast majority of families.

Kulusuk is home to some of the most skilled craftspeople in Greenland, and their tupilaks, carved figures symbolising spirits, are of extremely high quality.

Minimum stay for this package is 1 night, however you can exstend your stay as you like.  Only keep in mind that there are no flights to/from Kulusuk on Sundays.

A note about travel to Greenland

Greenland offers a somewhat different type of travel experience than you might expect. Its remote location and island status means that virtually all items must be imported; hence, even everyday items cost more than they do even in Iceland or Denmark (which Greenland is a part of).

Also, accommodations tend to be small in size (again, because of high cost of importing building materials), and service often is more relaxed than you will find elsewhere.

Still, Greenland is a fascinating and breathtaking destination, and we’re confident that its amazing natural wonders will mitigate any minor inconveniences you may experience during your stay.
