Spa and Wellness
The ultimate relaxation technique is a trip to one of Iceland's many outdoor thermal baths and pools. Iceland's plentiful sources of green, geothermal energy ensure clean air and unpolluted water, giving both inhabitants and visitors a treasured sense of wellness and contentment.
Research has shown that swimming and bathing outdoors in hot, thermal water, and the contrast of clean, cool air has a positive effect on the heart and respiratory system. Many Icelanders start the day off with a refreshing dip in the thermal spas that are spread all over the country so it is no wonder they are among the longest living people on Earth.
There are over 800 hot springs in Iceland and many of them lie off the beaten track, waiting to be discovered. Spa facilities range from quaint and rustic hot springs to lavish resorts that keep up with the latest trends in treatments as well as inventing a few of their own.
