In connection with the new flight from Keflavík Airport to Akureyri town, Iceland Travel is offering a City Break to the charming "Capital of the North".

• Mon, Thu, Fri, Sun – 4 flights a week Between 7 June – 27 Aug
• Thu, Sun – 2 flights a week between 30 Aug – 30 Sep.

Day 1: Arrival at Akureyri Airport
Meet and greet by our representative, followed by an orientation tour of the town, viewing the city centre and the Botanical garden. End the tour at your hotel for check-in.

Day 2: Lake Myvatn Tour with a Visit to the Myvatn Nature Baths or Dettifoss Waterfall - 9 hours
Enjoy an amazing journey through area of extreme contrasts, birdlife, flora, geothermal activity, geology, lava pillars, rock formations, history and myths. The Lake Myvatn area is by many considered the most beautiful and at the same times the most catastrophic area in Iceland. Enjoy all the classic sights, such as Goðafoss waterfall, the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir, Dimmuborgir, Grjotagjá rift, the boiling mud pools at Hverarönd and the explosion crater Víti.
By the end of the day, you can choose whether to enjoy 2 hours relaxing at the Myvatn Nature Baths, a completely natural pool of geothermal water based in the middle of lava fields or to travel to Dettifoss waterfall, Europe´s most powerful waterfall, which dominates its surroundings and shows the full force of Mother Nature. Transfer back to Akureyri. Hotel pick-up at 07:45-08:00.

Day 3: Day at Leisure & Optional Tour
You can choose from a number of excursions, such as a full day to Askja caldera, whale watching from Húsavík, visiting local farmers, exploring a lava cave and the weird world of ice sculptures or join an exclusive gourmet tour with local taste stops to name a few of the options available.
Akureyri boasts numerous restaurants, cafés, shops, galleries and museums if you wish to explore and enjoy city-life.

Day 4: Departure
Today it's time to pack and say farewell to the North of Iceland. Transfer on own to Akureyri's airport. Check-in for your flight is 2 hours prior to departure.

However you can extend your stay and enjoy up to 8 days in Akureyri.
