New Year's Eve in Reykjavik, Iceland

Celebrate the arrival of the New Year with an unforgettable holiday in Reykjavik.

Enjoy good food, spectacular fireworks and the exuberant night life in the Capital on one of the most special nights of the year.

Iceland does not have the restrictions on fireworks that other countries have, so the whole population of the Reykjavík Capital Area (200.000) makes its own massive fireworks show all over the city by blasting off fireworks from their garden or some vantage point.

Enjoy a Hosted Gourmet New Years Eve buffet and view amazing scenes from Iceland with powerful sound effects and music that embrace the audience while dining. 
In the meantime, the host of the evening, along with your big smiles and happy hearts, will create an evening to remember. Confetti table bombs and New Year's Eve party hats on each table add to the fun.

Overnight in Reykjavik.

Dec 31st - New Year's Eve

Explore Reykjavik with a local guide and learn about special traditions and Icelandic folk-tales connected to the magical New Year's Eve in Iceland.

First stop is the Fireworks sales organized by the Icelandic Rescue Teams. Every year on 31st December, Icelanders blow up over 600 tonnes of fireworks... basically 2 kg/4.4 lbs per inhabitant! We buy one bomb to take with us on our tour ...our very special own explosion to be enjoyed at our last stop.

Next we'll visit the old cemetery of Reykjavik and hear about the caretaker of the garden and why the dead rise from their graves on New Years Eve!

Head to Hafnarfjörður, known for its elf population, where we will visit one of the „elf stones". Keep in mind that the mysterious Icelandic Elves are out and about on New Year's Eve!

Our tour will finish in a beautiful forest grove where we'll light a little bonfire, make a toast to life and love and say farewell to the passing year in traditional Icelandic fashion!

in the evening:

The New Year's Eve buffet dinner will be prepared by the award winning Chefs at VOX Restaurant, which emphasize on Nordic Cuisine with local ingredients straight from Icelandic farmers and greenhouses. Indulge yourself on many various starters, main dishes of Lamb, Reindeer, Turkey and Pork and exquisite desserts.

Close to midnight we go to a popular viewing spot in Reykjavik for locals to enjoy fireworks over the city and light our own gold sparklers. But this is only the beginning...
After midnight, the nightclubs and pubs are open for business, with dancing and celebrating going well into the morning. Not only will you be able to enjoy this spectacular show, but also get a chance to relax in a high class spa and indulge yourself in Icelandic cuisine.

The evening program:

19:30 ~ Pre - drink

Gourmet New Year's Eve Buffet in the ballroom and the Four Seasons hosted dinner show.

23:20 ~ Pick-up with busses. Transfer to a nice viewing point over Reykjavík to enjoy the fireworks over the city.

00:30 ~ Transfer back to the hotel with a drive through the city centre. Optional drop off in the centre for those who want to keep the night going.

Jan. 1st: New Year's Day

Today we suggest a tour to visit some of Iceland's natural highlights, such as the Blue Lagoon or the Geysers. We offer a variety of interesting daytours all days, check our selection and book ahead.

Optional: Festive 4 course dinner a la VOX Restaurant.
