Highlights of the South is a short winter self-drive tour that focuses on South Iceland.

Surround yourself by the incredible Icelandic nature with its thundering waterfalls, sprouting hot springs, vast lava fields and black sandy beaches. In the evenings, don't forget to scout the clear dark skies looking for the dancing Northern Lights.

• Even though the tour is relatively short (5 days), you have the opportunity to explore all Iceland's main attractions along and around the South Shore and with a bit of luck to enjoy the stunning view of the gliding Aurora Borealis.

Day 1 - Arrival at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland

Pick-up your rental car at Keflavik International Airport. Drive to your hotel in Reykjavík. Overnight.

Day 2 - Golden Circle

National Park with Geological Wonders (UNESCO) - Spouting Geysers

Visit the must-see sites in Iceland! Start with Þingvellir National Park, famous for its history and geological wonders. Continue to Geysir hot spring area with its bubbling pools and spouting geyser. Onwards to the majestic Gullfoss waterfall. Overnight in Fludir area.

Optional visit to Geysir Geo Center, afternoon/evening visit to Fontana Baths at Laugarvatn.

Day 3 - Eyjafjallajokull & surroundings

Black Sand Beaches - Thundering Waterfalls - Sea Cliffs & Stone Arches

Drive along the scenic south shore and across the area around the infamous Eyjafjallajokull stratovolcano. Onwards viewing the beautiful Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and the black sand beaches around Vík and Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Stop in the charming village of Vík before returning back to Flúðir for an overnight

Optional visit to Skógar folk museum, glacier hike on Mýrdalsjökull.

Day 4 - The Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik

Geothermal Spa

Drive to Reykjanes peninsula and the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing dip in the pleasantly warm geothermal waters, rich in silica and minerals that are great for the skin. Explore Reykjanes Peninsula or simply head to your hotel, relax at the spa or explore Reykjavik, the northernmost capital in the world. Overnight in Reykjavik.

Optional: Riding tour in Hveragerði, bathing in the Blue Lagoon, in-water massage at the Blue Lagoon.

Day 5 - Departure from Iceland

Drive back to Keflavik International Airport. Drop off your rental car.
