Vopnafjörður is a small and beautiful village on a spit at the eastern part of Kolbeinsskagi. Vopnafjörður is situated on a bay with the same name “Vopnafjörður”.

It has its roots as a trading centre, from times long past and at the end of the 19th century the village started forming. To this day the main industry in Vopnfafjörður is fish and the processing of it, there is a highly technical fish processing factory in the village.
