Gamla Gistihusid

Gamla Gistihúsið Guesthouse is located centrally in Isafjordur village. This house has a lot of history. It was build as a hospital and later it became an home for the elderly. Around 2000 it was renovated and changed to a guesthouse.

The guesthouse offers rooms with shared facilities. Gamla guesthouse has 8 bright twin bedded rooms as well as 1 triple bedded room on two floors accommodating up to 19 guests. All rooms have hand basin and bathrobes as well as television and complimentary wireless internet connection.

Good and varied breakfast is served in the breakfast room. Keep your eyes open for the Icelandic traditional Lýsi, cod liver oil that kept the Icelandic nation going through tough conditions. However, the dose is only one tablespoon, so you still will have belly-space for a sandwich or two.

Speaking of sandwiches, you can add a little extra to your breakfast fee and make your lunch right off the breakfast buffet. The lunch might never be free, is it, but it can be handy and cheap.

The guesthouse is non-smoking and is open all year round.

Guests enjoy discount prices in the restaurant at Hotel Isafjördur, 350 m from the guest house. There are also restaurants and cafés in the nearby area.

Isafjordur Airport, with regular flights to Reykjavik, is a 10-minute drive from the guest house.
