Duration: 7 days/6 nights
The rugged eastern edge of the Westfjords is one of the least visited parts of Iceland, yet also the most scenic and hypnotic in untouched nature. Holmavik is the main village situated in Steingrimsfjordur Fjord along the scenic Strandir coast, and provides a different variety of natural beauty and added mystery than the remaining towns in this region.
During the 17th century, the Westfjords were renowned for wizards and sorcerers, and Holmavik holds the spirit of this ancient practice alive and well in two unusual exhibitions on witchcraft and witch hunts.
The awe-inspiring nature and peaceful environment of this area is a hiker’s paradise and also offers opportunities for kayaking, camping, golfing, and swimming in the newly opened spa complex.
