Day 1: Arrival

Arrival - Free day in Reykjavik - Hunt for the Northern Lights

Day at your leisure. Airport transfers and optional tours available upon request.

This day is open for your own activities. A visit to the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, located 15 minutes from Keflavik International Airport, is a wonderful way to enjoy your arrival or departure day, depending on your flight schedule.

Today is a good day to enjoy your admission to the hotel's Soley Natura Spa.  The relaxing mineral hot spring pool, sauna and steam baths is a wonderful way to relax and get into the relaxing spirit of Christmas in Iceland.

In the evening, hunt for the Northern Lights. Also known as Aurora Borealis, the lights are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Icelandic night sky. Please note this tour is weather dependent, and sightings are not guaranteed. If conditions are unfavorable for Northern Lights viewing, your group will visit the Northern Lights Centre in Reykjavik.

Overnight in Reykjavik for the next 3 nights.

Day 2: Christmas Eve in Reykjavik

Experience Reykjavík - Christmas Themed Walking Tour - Tasty stops at Unique Restaurants

Breakfast at your hotel.  This morning, enjoy a guided Christmas-themed walking and tasting tour of downtown Reykjavik. What better way to get into the spirit of the season than strolling around the city and visiting several unique restaurants with a fun & knowledgeable local guide by your side.

During this Reykjavik Christmas experience, you’ll gain insight into Icelandic holiday traditions old and new, as well the history, art, architecture, culture and cuisine of the capital city. Wander through the beautifully-decorated city centre, twinkling with festive holiday lights.

During the afternoon, things become quiet in the Reykjavik area as shops close and people go home to enjoy Christmas Eve with their families.  This peaceful time can be a magical time to take a winter walk on the trails outside the hotel.

The beginning of Christmas officially starts at 18:00 (6:00pm) with church bells ringing, radio programmes and Christmas  Eve church services.   Tonight celebrate Christmas Eve with a dinner at the hotel's Satt Restaurant, famous for its Christmas cuisine.

If you are interested in attending a Christmas church service, the staff at the hotel can advise you about church services in the Reykjavik area.

Overnight again in Reykjavik.

Day 3: Golden Circle on Christmas Day

Natural Wonders of Gullfoss, Geysir & Thingvellir - Traditional Icelandic Christmas buffet

Gleðileg Jól (Merry Christmas!)  After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you at 09:30. Today you will experience a trio of natural wonders along the Golden Circle route in South Iceland. Highlights include the breathtaking Gullfoss waterfall, which is often frozen mid-cascade during winter; the active Geysir geothermal area of bubbling mud pools, hot springs and spouting geysers; and Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Iceland's greatest historical site. Thingvellir is also of tremendous geological interest, as it is the visible location of the mid-Atlantic Ridge where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet.  Enjoy these areas on the quiet solitute of a Christmas day.

Tonight dinner is on your own.  Special Christmas-themed dinners are available in Reykjavik (reservations required; your hotel can assist you with bookings).  We recommend the Christmas Dinners at the Satt Restaurant (Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura), Vox (Hilton Nordica) and the "Playful Christmas Dinner" at Geiri Smart Restaurant (Canopy by Hilton).

Overnight again in Reykjavik.

Day 4: Departure

Transfer to Keflavik International Airport (not included). If your departing flight is in the afternoon and you have not had the chance to visit the Blue Lagoon, a departure transfer via the lagoon is recommended
