Westman Islands - Pompeii of the North

The Vestmannaeyjar or Westman Islands are one of the best kept secrets in Iceland. They are a small archipelago off the south coast of Iceland and truly a wonder of nature!

Drive along Iceland's south shore (approx. 1 hour) and board a ferry for a short sail (approx. 30 min) to the Westman Islands.

Once there join a bus tour around the island, surrounded by mountains, volcanoes and seabirds. The volcanic eruption in the Westman Islands in year 1973 is, without doubt, considered the largest natural disaster in Iceland in recent history.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat tour around the islands. In case of bad weather, the boat tour is replaced by a one hour volcano show, during which a soup is served.
