The elders say that the harsher the night&#8217;s frost, the more intense the colours will be. Swirling and swaying overhead, displays are usually greenish-yellow but white, red and pink lights can also appear.
This northern lights tour in Iceland takes you out of Reykjavík in a SuperJeep, far from the city lights to observe this fascinating natural phenomenon. We can&#8217;t tell you beforehand where this tour takes you. The only sure thing is that you will drive away from the city to a location where there&#8217;s total darkness. If the sky is clear, you might be lucky enough to see the famous northern lights.
This northern lights SuperJeep tour is dependent on the weather and sky conditions, and we reserve the right to cancel at any time. If the evening tour goes ahead and the northern lights are not seen, you can try once again for FREE! The free try never expires as long as we are running the hunt for the Northern Lights, however the free try is always subject to availability.
Make sure you book your northern lights tour in Iceland for your first night in town in order to maximize your chances of seeing the northern lights. Please note that the size of each night’s tour group can grow if we’ve had to cancel several nights in a row due to weather. We do indeed try our best to find northern lights for everyone!

This is Iceland&#8217;s original northern lights boat tour!
Hunting the northern lights from the ocean is an amazing experience; sailing away from the coastline of Reykjavík and seeing the Aurora borealis out on the North-Atlantic ocean with beautiful mountains and the city in the background is something you won’t forget!
Sail out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík, and in only 15-20 minutes you will be in a prime location for viewing the auroras! Your guide will share facts on the science behind the magical phenomenon of the northern lights and tell you about their stories &amp; myths from different cultures around the world. Throughout the tour, you can view an original northern lights video full of interesting facts and folklore.
The tour takes about 2-3 hours depending on how early/late the lights might appear.
Useful tip: There always is a crew member taking pictures throughout the night so instead of taking a long time figuring out the right settings for your camera, enjoy the moment and check the tour&#8217;s daily diary to see the photos! (If you are eager to learn, we can also assist you in getting the settings right)
