Husavik is a marine lover’s paradise, with over 97% average success rate of whale sightings in the last three decades! And yet, each tour is unique. Who knows, you might see curious minke whales, breaching humpbacks, playful pods of dolphins or even blue whales, the largest mammal on earth! If you’re lucky, killer whales, fin whales and other species could even make an appearance.
Enjoy a smooth, safe sailing in a traditional Icelandic oak ship with great viewing decks to explore the home of the whales. Our professional and highly qualified crew will guide you throughout the tour, share great knowledge about whales and fascinating stories from Skjalfandi Bay.

Whale Watching from Husavik

Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see two of the ocean’s top predators, sperm whales and orcas, than along the Snaefellsnes Peninsula coastline.
If you are traveling around the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Olafsvik is a perfect place to join a whale watching tour.
Sitting on the north end of the peninsula, the town is close to the bountiful waters of the clear North Atlantic Ocean, where a number of whale species feed.
This unique trip takes you into the waters around Snaefellsnes, where ocean giants swim in the shadow of the magnificent Snaefellsjokull Glacier. Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see toothed whales such as orcas, sperm whales, and pilot whales than along this beautiful coastline.
Orcas are most often seen in winter, spring, and early summer (February through early July), but there is a chance of seeing them all the way through the summer months.  Male sperm whales can be seen between about March and June (mostly) out in deeper water regularly and sometimes show up on trips later in the year also.
During late summer and into autumn we mostly see minke whales, humpback whales and white-beaked dolphins.
