Explore Hofn and surroundings

Hofn’s proximity to Vatnajokull Glacier provides great opportunity to experience glacial wonders in the region. We recommend taking an optional tour to Jokulsarlon, the Glacier Lagoon, where you might see seals swimming between the huge floating icebergs. Other opportunities might include glacier walking in Skaftafell, a glacier-ringed nature preserve in Vatnajokull National Park and  visiting the Thorbergur Cultural Centre near the Glacial Lagoon, honouring a favourite Icelandic author.  The Thorbergur Centre is also known for its excellent restaurant specialising in regional cuisine (reservations are necessary)
