Imagine encountering whales and puffins in wild nature. Enjoy this boat trip from the famous whale watching town Husavik by Skjalfandi Bay, in the north of Iceland.
With our RIB speedboats we can offer you more area to cover in search for whales, the gentle giants of the sea. A RIB boat is faster than the wind, so it is more likely for us to find the big whales. Normally we do not have to leave our bay to see whales, but this tour focuses on finding the bigger ones further out. Nothing is guaranteed, but your chances to encounter some of the world&#8217;s biggest animals increases.
After you put on warm safety overall and a life vest, step aboard a modern RIB speedboat and head out to the beautiful surroundings of Skjalfandi Bay. Your specialized wildlife guide will demonstrate the safety on board and give you live commentary on the sights encountered throughout the tour.
Your first visit is Puffin Island during the nesting period (April 15th – August 20th approximately) where you can observe thousands of colorful puffins, often called the &#8220;Clowns of the Ocean&#8221;.
After a short pit stop by the island, your journey continues into the deeper waters of Skjalfandi Bay to look  for whales. Watching whales in a respectful way in their wild natural environment from a RIB speedboat is a unique experience.

This is the ultimate puffin adventure tour from Reykjavik! We arrive before other operators so we can enjoy an uninterrupted visit to the puffins and seabirds of the Faxafloi Bay.
Leaving from the Old Harbor in Reykjavik, we head for the islands before other operators so we can enjoy an uninterrupted visit to the puffins and seabirds of the Faxafloi Bay.
The summer is the best time to experience the birds and wildlife of the bay and islands just outside Reykjavik city. Puffins, auks, gannets and an incredible variety of other sea birds dominate the skies and sea cliffs just a few minutes’ sailing from the Old Harbor.
This tour is operated in our custom-made RIB boats. They are specially designed to get you as close as possible to the islands. Whenever it is possible, we will switch the engines off completely to give the birds (and you) some peace and quiet to enjoy nature. During the tour, your guide and captain will tell you interesting facts and tales about puffins and our surroundings.
Our RIBs are also the fastest boats in the harbor, meaning that on a short tour you will spend the majority of you time with the birds.
