Dive into this 2-hour exploration of Iceland’s black sand landscape in the south. You’ll also visit the famous DC3 airplane wreck.
This tour kicks off after you meet your ATV guide at the ATV base near Mýrdalsjökull glacier. You will receive all the necessary gear and a short safety briefing before venturing out on ATVs to drive on Iceland’s iconic black beaches. Your guide will lead your group to the stunning coastline to witness breathtaking views of the surrounding area. You’ll marvel at the views of Dyrhólaey, a peninsula that is the southernmost tip of the country, and the marvelous Mýrdalsjökull glacier in the distance.
After leaving the beach, your group will head to the famous Sólheimasandur plane wreck. This relic has been resting in the sand since 1973. After this, you will drive to the Jökulsá river and up the foot of the mountain. This action-packed tour ends at the base.

Reykjavík Peak ATV Tour

Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled adventure with a buggy tour set against the stunning Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Feel the chill as you race across the wild Icelandic landscape and marvel at the river reflecting the sky&#8217;s changing colours.
Start with a carbon neutral bus trip through the scenic South Coast region, famous for a landscape of waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanic mountains. Visit the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Ribbon-shaped Seljalandsfoss has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Photogenic Skógafoss is something of a film star, having been a backdrop in productions like Thor: The Dark World, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Game of Thrones, and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
Near Mýrdalsjökull glacier, you’ll start your buggy adventure. A local guide will give you safety gear and safety instructions. Start your journey to the glacier&#8217;s edge, where the radiant ice cap contrasts starkly with the black desert sand. It’s a sight you&#8217;ll never forget.
The buggies splash through small rivers and streams on the way to a sandy beach created by the dormant Katla volcano. After a fun ride on the black beach, your group will stop at the famous DC3 plane wreck. Here you can take in the amazing view up to Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the vast black coast to Dyrhólaey, Iceland’s southernmost point. Afterwards, you’ll head back to the base on a route following scenic mountains.
After this exciting experience, enjoy your scenic bus ride back to Reykjavík.
