Explore these beautiful islands with their steep coastal cliffs shrouded in winter mist and mystery, dramatic fjords and quaint little villages on the Faroe Islands Winter Hidden Gem tour.

Far out in the remote North Atlantic are a group of magical islands that few know about, the Faroe Islands. Explore these beautiful islands with their steep coastal cliffs shrouded in winter mist and mystery, dramatic fjords and quaint little villages where the pace of life is as easy and laid back as the people.  But there’s so much more to the Faroe Islands than the dramatic rugged scenery.  Here lives a community with a rich cultural heritage stretching back to the Viking Age, and it’s waiting for your discovery.

Winter in the Faroes-  A Unique and Mystical Experience

Like Iceland, the weather in the winter changes frequently and is often windy, but the climate is quite moderate considering the northern latitude.  Average winter temperatures range from 5°C to 3°C (43°F to 37°F).   Winter is a time of dramatic scenery where light and shadows bring out magical shapes in cliffs and fjords, a treat for photographers.  The powerful waves thundering on the volcanic shores are magnificent.    When snow falls, it gives a fairy-tale appearance to the historical buildings with grass roofs.    Traveling among the islands in the winter lets you experience a special, almost mystical, silence.  Oftentimes the only sounds you‘ll hear are from waves and seabirds, an ideal yet dramatic setting for personal downtime from your hectic daily life.</p>

Winter in the Faroes is also one of the best times to meet locals.  There is a cosy atmosphere to the friendly pubs and restaurants in Torshavn.  Enjoy opportunities to take in the unique musical scene, delicious dining and a variety of cultural activities.

Highlights:

  • Take in spectacular views of islands, fjords and the North Atlantic ocean
  • Experience the rugged beauty and charming villages of the Northern Islands
  • Enjoy Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands’ colourful and historic capital city
  • Visit several islands, each with its own distinct landscape and history
