We suggest bringing a mosquito/fly head net for use on Day 5, as there can be harmless midges around Lake Myvatn. It‘s not required, but some visitors have found it more comfortable.
Important: If you have added extra nights in Reykjavik before your tour, the guide will meet your group for the start of the tour on Day 2 according to the standard “Iceland Complete” itinerary.
Welcome to the Land of Fire and Ice! On your own, transfer to Reykjavik. We recommend the easy and convenient FlyBus Plus transfers, which can be booked through Iceland Travel. If your flight lands early in the day, a great suggestion is to explore Reykjavik, the largest municipality in Iceland.
Ingolfur Arnarson, the first settler of Iceland, built his farm on the peninsula where Reykjavik stands today. The town got its name “Smoky Bay” after the columns of steam that rose from the hot springs in the area and made such a deep impression on the first settlers.
Dinner is on your own. Reykjavik offers a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses, making dinner a great way to get better acquainted with Iceland’s capital.
Please note guaranteed early check-in is not included in the price. Most hotels begin check-in around 14:00 (2:00pm).
Overnight stay in Reykjavik (airport transfer not included). Dinner on own.

Continue eastward, enjoying magnificent views of mighty Vatnajokull, Europe‘s largest glacier. Your destination is Hofn, a seacoast village located near the glacier.
Dinner is on your own this evening. Hofn is famous for its excellent langoustines (Norway lobsters), and several restaurants in the town offer this specialty.

The road takes you back to Reykjavik where you’ll enjoy a short “farewell” city sightseeing tour before being dropped off at your hotel for the final night.
Overnight stay in Reykjavik. Dinner is on your own.

We booked the Iceland Complete 7 day guided tour from/to Reykjavik. We were 2 of 12 travelers on a 16 passenger bus which gave us ample room and ample opportunity to get to know our guide, driver, and fellow travelers. Julia, our guide, is very knowledgeable and obviously proud of her country. She provided a good history of Iceland, complete with some folklore and tales which helped to pass the time while on the bus. Matti, our driver, is courteous, smooth driving, and adept at finding the closer parking spots. Iceland's scenery is spectacular and neither the clouds nor the cooler temperatures deterred our group's enthusiasm. And, our pictures turned out fine. The chosen hotels were all very nice and the included meals delicious. We had two days in Reykjavik on our own, one at the beginning and the other at the end, to see the sights and found it easy to get around using the included bus pass from Hotel Reykjavik Natura, a pleasant bonus. All in all we had a great time in Iceland.
