Icelanders enjoy performances of all kinds, and it is very inspiring to arrange a performance in this country. Iceland’s surreal and magnificent landscape, along with its powerful fire and ice natural forces, have been an enormous influence on local artists and musicians. Travelling here will show you how nature and arts are so closely intertwined. You might also get some inspirations of your own!  
 This tour visits some of the country’s best-known natural wonders, as well as some important cultural heritage places. Our guides are passionate about Iceland’s nature and culture. They are great “travel teachers” and experts at sharing their knowledge in a fun and educational way.

Performance group – Iceland Music and Nature

Academic groups

Day 1

Meet your guide and private tour bus at the Keflavík international Airport. Iceland’s music and art are heavily influenced by the country’s landscapes. You’ll get an introduction to the mystical and unforgettable landscapes with a drive over ancient volcanic lava flows to Reykjavík, passing by Bessastaðir, the Presidential estate. Your group will enjoy an orientation tour of Reykjavík to help you get your bearings for the following days. The rest of day is open. Tonight, meet your guide and walk to a nearby restaurant for a welcome get-together.
Overnight in Reykjavík. Dinner is on your own, but we can arrange it upon request.
Optional activities: 
-Víkingaheimar Museum: Located near Keflavík airport, this museum focuses on the Vikings who explored Greenland and North America. A highlight is the Íslendingur, a replica of a Viking ship that sailed between Iceland and North America in the year 2000 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Leifur Eiríksson’s voyage to North America. The museum’s café serves a delicious Icelandic breakfast buffet, something many of our early morning group arrivals enjoy adding to their itinerary. 
 &#8211;Hallgrímskirkja Church: Visible from almost any point in the city, Hallgrímskirkja is the symbol of Reykjavík. It is named after Hallgrímur Pétursson, a poet and clergyman who wrote Iceland’s beloved Passion Hymns in the 17th century. The iconic church’s design evokes nature. Visit the top of the church tower and enjoy awe-inspiring views of Reykjavík.

Welcome to Iceland and Reykjavík

Day 2

Breakfast at your accommodation. Meet your guide and head to the Golden Circle region. Start by visiting Þingvellir National Park, site of the world’s oldest democratic parliament founded in 930 AD.  Every year Vikings across the land would meet here for several days to discuss laws. Musical and artistic events were also part of this event. Þingvellir is also the site where the North American and European tectonic plates at the dramatic Mid-Atlantic ridge.
Explore Gullfoss, the &#8220;Golden Waterfall&#8221;, and the nearby Geysir hot spring area to see the famous erupting Strokkur hot spring, as well as numerous other bubbling hot springs and boiling mud pools.
En route, your group will stop at the Friðheimar greenhouse farm to sample fresh tomatoes in a greenhouse where vegetables are grown with the help of pollution-free geothermal heat. You’ll also have a chance to meet some of the farm’s friendly Icelandic horses.
Continue to the beautiful church and cultural centre of Skálholt. Before Reykjavík, this was Iceland’s cultural and political “capital.” Medieval scholars and clergy at Skálholt preserved many ancient Nordic musical and literary works, some dating back to Viking times.
Your group will rehearse, have lunch, and hold a concert at Skálholt for the local farmers and visitors staying in the area in summer cottages.
Return to Reykjavík for dinner and overnight.

Golden Circle and Performance in Skálholt Church

Day 3 

After an early start and breakfast, head to the beautiful south coast region. If the skies are clear, you&#8217;ll have a view of two famous volcanoes.  Beautiful Mt. Hekla is Iceland’s most frequently erupting volcano (last eruption: AD 2000). Eyjafjallajökull is probably the most famous volcano in the world today; its 2010 eruption halted international air traffic.
Stop at Seljalandsfoss, a ribbon-shaped waterfall. Drive along the hills of Eyjafjallajökull, a scenic setting with rich farmland. Visit breathtaking Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s most photographed waterfalls. Drive past the rocky Dyrhólaey headland with its sheer cliffs en route to Vík, a charming village famous for its volcanic black sand beaches. Take a a walk on the beach, where you can get a view of the Reynisdrangar rocks &#8211; 66 metres (215 feet) above sea level and feel the power of the thundering Atlantic ocean waves coming to shore.
Return to Reykjavík for dinner and overnight.

South Shore

Day 4

Breakfast at your accommodation. This morning, your group will be driven to a retirement home in the Greater Reykjavík area. We’ve arranged for you to hold a concert for the residents (generally 30-40 minutes). This is a great opportunity to meet some local Icelanders; many Icelanders speak English and enjoy talking to people from other countries.
Your group will have a light lunch close to the retirement home before continuing to the Blue Lagoon. The Lagoon is a unique wonder, a lake with pleasantly warm, mineral-rich geothermal water in the middle of a black lava field. The high natural levels of silica and minerals give the Lagoon its rich blue colour and are great for your skin. Your group will relax there for approximately one and a half hours.
Return to Reykjavík for dinner and overnight.

Performance at a Retirement Home and a Blue Lagoon Visit

Day 5 

Breakfast at your accommodation. Today you will head west to Borgarfjörður, one of the first parts of the country settled by Vikings. Many of the great Icelandic Sagas took place here in this beautiful area of glacial rivers, lava formations, mountains, and waterfalls. Nowadays, this area is a beloved holiday spot for Icelanders.
You’ll pass through Borgarnes, home to one of Iceland’s legendary Vikings, the warrior poet Egill Skallagrímsson. Visit Reykholt, the former manor home of Snorri Sturluson, the most significant chieftain, poet, and historian of the Middle Ages. Vikings did not write down their history or stories. Instead, a type of poet known as a skald would recite historical legends to communities, often in the form of poems. Snorri and other historians like him wrote down works about Norse mythology and historical tales, helping us understand how people lived in Viking times.
View two beautiful waterfalls, Hraunfossar falls and Barnafoss , both known vibrant blue waters. The last stop is at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring,
Return to Reykjavík for your overnight stay. Tonight, your group will enjoy a farewell dinner.

The Saga Circle

Day 6

Breakfast at your accommodation. The morning is open for your own activities. About 3-3.5 hours before your flight departure, your guide and private bus will pick you up before your flight departure and take you to Keflavík International Airport. Enjoy your flight home, your heart and mind full of great memories of Iceland.
