See the North Atlantic puffin in its natural surroundings. The Puffin Express adventure starts at the Old Harbour of Reykjavik and only takes an hour.
The adventure starts at the Old Harbour of Reykjavík and only takes one hour. Conducted from an old and charming wooden boat called Skúlaskeið or “Old Skuli“ its an idyllic and charming way to get close to the famous birds.
The Atlantic is one of three puffinn species in the world. It’s known for its colourful beak and its great diving skills, although they are rather clumsy flyers.
Lundey and Akurey are two small islands located in the Reykjavík bay area, only 15 minutes away from where we depart. The islands are covered with small hills and slopes and both are well known for their colorful birdlife.
The islands’ shores are rocky but Old Skuli is especially designed to take us as close to the islands as possible due to its shallow draught. However we do recommend bringing a camera with a zoom lens, for the best photography opportunities, since the puffins are small birds.
When we arrive at the islands we turn off the engine so our passengers can observe the birds and the beautiful surroundings.
The licensed guide will tell you all about the Puffins and other birds of interest that are often seen on the Puffin watching tours. Other birds spotted include Northern Fulmars, Gulls, Arctic Terns, and Black Guillemots.
The perfect tour for anyone looking for a quick but still unique Iceland experience.
