On a super jeep tour from Vik get ready to explore the awe-inspiring nature of South Iceland. Head to the stratovolcano Katla, where recent seismic activity has excited geologists and volcanologists all over the world. The volcano is partially covered by the majestic Myrdalsjokull, a living example of the stark contrast of ice and fire Iceland is known for.
Next we’ll visit Reynisfjall for an unparalleled view of the basalt stone stacks Reynisdrangar. Legend has it that the rocks are two trolls, turned to stone by the sunlight. Nowadays Reynisdrangar is home to active birdlife and is one of the most photographed sites in Iceland.
Drive through Myrdalssandur desert for a short stop at a supposedly haunted mountain cabin before passing the 221m high plateau mountain Hjorleifshofdi, a picturesque landmark with close connections to Iceland’s settlement history.
Please note that lunch can be added or bought on the way.
